How Healthy Relationships Fuel Your Leadership and Personal Well-Being
When I first started my business, I was overwhelmed and craving clarity.
I had left the security of a full-time job to build something of my own—something deeply personal, purposeful, and aligned. But like many founders, I quickly realized that entrepreneurship is full of beautiful freedom... and constant decision-making, invisible pressure, and a never-ending to-do list.
So when I signed up for a women’s business retreat in the mountains of Montana with Jennifer Dawn Coaching, I was mostly hoping for some quiet and maybe a reset.
What I got was a room full of brave, brilliant women, all stepping away from the grind to work on themselves, their businesses, and their next-level goals.
What I didn’t expect?
That saying “yes” to that one retreat would shift the entire trajectory of my business and personal growth.
The Power of Getting in the Room
Fast forward four years: I’m now one of the coaches on the Jennifer Dawn team.
And just last week, I led two workshops at our Alaska business retreat—talk about full-circle moments.
One on Time & Energy Mastery
The other on Relationships That Support Your Freedom
Both of these topics are near and dear to my heart. Because what I’ve learned—through my own journey and through coaching others—is this:
Your next level doesn’t come from grinding harder.
It comes from stepping away long enough to remember who you are, what you want, and what’s actually in the way.
What Happens When You Step Away
Retreats have a funny way of holding up a mirror.
You’re pulled out of your routine.
You stop answering emails for a minute.
You breathe a little deeper.
And then you see things more clearly—things that were clouded by noise, obligation, or just plain exhaustion.
In Alaska, I watched the people in the room gain clarity they hadn’t found in months of strategy calls and solo hustle. I saw them cry (in a good way). I saw them reclaim joy. I saw ideas born, burdens named, and boundaries reimagined.
I watched them stop trying to do it all perfectly… and start doing it intentionally.
And I felt myself doing the same.
The People Who Expand You
The retreat wasn’t just about goals and strategy. It was about people.
Who’s in your corner?
Who’s draining your energy?
Who’s expanding your vision?
We often talk about systems and structure in business. But just as important are the relationships that either support or sabotage your freedom.
And that’s what I brought into my second session—an honest look at the people and connections shaping your business and life.
Because your vision is only as sustainable as your support system.
So Here’s the Reminder
If you’ve been stuck in the grind…
If your business has become one big to-do list…
If you feel like your calendar is leading your life, instead of the other way around…
Maybe it’s time to step away, just for a little while.
To reflect.
To recalibrate.
To get in a room with people who see your greatness, not just your goals.
That retreat in Montana was one decision.
But it opened a door that’s led me to this life—coaching, speaking, leading, and growing alongside some of the best people I know.
Sometimes, the biggest shifts start with one brave "yes."
